Planning

Three pieces of one plan.

Income, the portfolio, and the tax consequences around both. This is one household plan, included in the advisory relationship.

01

Retirement income

The paycheck has to be replaced on purpose.

  • When to claim Social Security, given the rest of the balance sheet.
  • A withdrawal order that respects taxes, required distributions, and the years you actually want to spend.
  • A spending plan you can have confidence in. Taxes, inflation, and returns are modeled in Right Capital, and the plan is updated annually.

02

Managed in house

The portfolio stays with the person you hired.

  • We make the investment decisions. Assets are not handed to a third-party manager or a model portfolio.
  • Allocation matched to horizon, cash needs, and how much decline you can actually live with.
  • Tended as conditions change, so the mix is not left to drift.
  • Charles Schwab holds the accounts, in your name. We still manage them.

03

Tax coordination

The tax consequences belong in the conversation.

  • Account location: taxable, IRA, and Roth, used with intent.
  • Roth conversions, required distributions, and the years around them.
  • We do not give tax advice or prepare returns. Your tax professional does.

Introductions

These sit outside the advisory work.

  • Medicare. We can introduce you to an independent Medicare agent to help review your options and sign up as you turn 65 or retire. The carrier pays the agent.
  • Estate documents. We can introduce you to an independent estate planning attorney. The introduction is complimentary. If you hire the attorney to assist in the drafting of a will, trust, or power of attorney, you pay the attorney.
